Consignment Policy

General Information:

We thoroughly research the details of your item, such as the brand, style, material, inclusions, and condition, before offering a quote. Additionally, we take into account factors like market demand, inventory, pricing trends, and our customer base.

Shipping and Handling:

The client bears the responsibility of shipping items to and from Luxe Closet, which includes covering shipping costs, taxes, insurance and customs fees. The Consignor is responsible for the item until it is received by Luxe Closet, it is up to the Consignor whether or not to ship their item(s) to Luxe Closet with a tracking number or insurance at their expense. Luxe Closet will not be responsible for any damages or items lost in transit.

Our team handles each item with utmost care during the process of inspection, authentication, photography, videography, and when arranging client viewings.

Unauthentic/ Counterfeit item: 

It is illegal to buy or sell counterfeit items, Luxe Closet has the right to refuse your item if we cannot authenticate.

If non-authentic items are received, the Consignor will be responsible for covering the costs related to authentication services, shipping, and a penalty fee of $250 which covers other services and labour costs. For Hermes handbags, the penalty fee is set at $400, in addition to the costs of authentication and shipping. It is crucial to settle these fees within a two-week period, as failure to do so will result in the disposal of the item.

Condition:

In the event that an item's condition differs from what was initially presented during the quote process, adjustments may be made to the previously quoted amount. If the consignor does not agree with the new quote they will be responsible for shipping fees back for the return of their item. If any alterations or repairs have been made to the item without prior disclosure, the Consignor will be required to compensate Luxe Closet for any resulting price adjustments.

Luxe Closet exclusively accepts high-end designer items and cannot accommodate items that are aged, soiled, emit unpleasant odors, extensively damaged, or show significant signs of use. Luxe Closet retains the right to decline items at our discretion.

Selling

Before consigning, Luxe Closet requires the Consignor to complete and submit the Consignment Form with accurate information. By entrusting your item(s) to us, you affirm your compliance with our terms and policies. 

The Consignor cannot list their item(s) for sale on any other platform while being consigned with Luxe Closet. The item will remain under Luxe Closet’s inventory until sold or returned back to the consignor with the return policy being followed.

If the consignor would like to decrease pricing of the product for a faster sale, they would need to notify us and we will assess based on the current market.

There is a minimum fee of $100 per consigned item, please refer to our detailed consignment rates below. 

Consignment Term:

The consignment period lasts for a minimum of 60 days, commencing from the date the item is listed for sale on Luxe Closet’s platforms. If mutually agreed upon, this term can be extended until the item is sold. Items cannot be consigned with any other consignment store while being consigned with Luxe Closet. 

Should the term be finished and the Consigner wants their item back, the consignor will be responsible for any shipping fees.

Should the Consignor request the return of their items before the 60-day period elapses, there will be a penalty fee of $150, in addition to authentication and shipping costs. For Hermes handbags, the fee penalty increases to $300, along with the authentication and shipping costs. These fees are necessary to compensate for our time, efforts, and expenses incurred during the authentication process.

Payment:

Luxe Closet pays Consignors via Etransfer and Paypal. Payments via Etransfer may take a few days to complete.

For sales made upfront, payment to Consignor is provided immediately. In the case of items sold through layaway, payment is transferred to the consignor as we receive payment from the buyer. If the buyer fails to make the payment or the layaway plan is cancelled, the item(s) will be put up for sale again.

The payout for international Consignors will be determined by the prevailing conversion rate, which has the potential to fluctuate on a daily basis.

Advertising:

To enhance visibility for every item, Luxe Closet regularly publishes new arrivals on a weekly basis. We handle items in the sequence they are received and authenticated. Diligently, we strive to showcase and promote your items on various social media platforms. If the Consignor desires to expedite the sale of their item, kindly reach out to us so we can explore potential price adjustments.

Luxe closet will be responsible for the process of selling, assessing market value and  professional showcase and description of your item.

Please Note:

Being a Canadian company, Luxe Closet exclusively uses Canadian dollars for all our prices and quotes, irrespective of whether the clients are from Canada or international locations. It is important to note that the prices displayed on our website are slightly higher compared to our social media platforms as this accounts for additional fees associated with PayPal, credit card transactions, and processing.

Purchase Policy

Please read the following information carefully before making a purchase:

  • All items and payments are final sale, and Luxe Closet does not offer refunds, credits, or exchanges. It is important to review all photos, videos, and descriptions thoroughly as they are integral parts of the item. These conditions apply to items sold through all of our selling platforms. Please ensure you are fully informed before proceeding with your purchase.

Payment methods:

  • Items can be purchased via our website at www.luxecloset.ca or via instagram direct messages
  • We accept debit or credit cards, PayPal, email money transfer (EMT) to luxeclosetca@gmail.com  within Canada, and cash for local pick-up.

Payment Plans:

  • Luxe Closet offers in house layaway plans with 0% service fee for items greater than $1,000.
  • Note that prices displayed on www.luxecloset.ca includes processing fees, therefore they may be slightly higher than prices shown on our social media platforms.

Product representation:

  • Please be aware that all items that Luxe Closet sells are previously owned and may be used or unused. We handle these items for inspection, authentication, and photography purposes. Unless otherwise stated, the items may not be in flawless condition.
  • Luxe Closet does provide subjective ratings in our descriptions as perceptions may vary. It is advisable to carefully review all details and photos, and we can provide additional information and photos upon request.
  • Minor flaws should not be a subject of complaint. It is important to note that even new or used products, whether directly from a boutique or resale, may not be perfect when scrutinised in detail.
  • Sensitivity to smell differs from person to person, and Luxe Closet will disclose any unpleasant smells if detected.
  • Luxe Closet does not make deceptive changes to the photos that would misrepresent the product. Please consider that colors and textures may appear differently in various lighting conditions and on different screens.

Product rating system:

  • Luxe Closet rates our products based on their condition, using descriptions such as Brand New/Unused, Like New/Used, Excellent Condition (Minimal Signs of Wear), Great Condition (Some Signs of Wear), and Fair (Used, Visible Signs of Wear). These ratings consider factors like scratches, marks, and signs of use.
  • It is important to note that we inspect and authenticate all items, but we do not sell directly from the brands we post.
  • Luxe Closet does provide subjective ratings in our descriptions as perceptions may vary. It is advisable to carefully review all details and photos, and we can provide additional information and photos upon request.

Authenticity:

  • Luxe Closet guarantees the authenticity of all items, and if any item is found to be inauthentic, we will provide a refund to the buyer. Our money-back guarantee is valid for up to 3 months after the receipt of the item. We recommend having your items authenticated promptly after receipt to avoid any disputes.
  • Customers have the option to purchase a certification of authenticity from our third-party authenticator for an additional fee, which can be included with the item.
  • If the buyer disputes our authentication verdict, Luxe Closet will honour our money-back guarantee within 3 months post-sale. However, the NON AUTHENTIC or COUNTERFEIT opinion must be verified by one of our preferred third-party authentication companies.
  • Verbal authentication opinions from boutique staff/managers are not accepted as they are not trained or authorized to provide such conclusions.
  • Luxe Closet’s authentication standards include an authentic verdict from Entrupy plus one from our preferred authenticators. A lesser-known authentication company or individual cannot refute the verdict provided by both Entrupy and our preferred authenticators.
  • In cases of a refund, the item must be returned to Luxe Closet in the same condition and with all the original inclusions; otherwise, a refund will not be issued.

Shipping:

Item(s) must be paid in full and confirmed with a receipt before shipping. Please allow up to 2 business days for processing.
Luxe Closet’s shipping fees come with base insurance, additional insurance requested by buyer will be at their expense.
Shipping will include tracking number, once an item has been listed as a confirmed delivery, Luxe Closet is no longer responsible for the item(s).
All items will be shipped via standard shipping. Expedited shipping will be at the buyer’s request and cost. This does not include any duties or customs fees that may be incurred.
For higher-value items, Luxe Closet exclusively delivers to the post offices only to mitigate the risk of packages being left unattended at the door, which could potentially lead to false claims of non-receipt or theft.
All packages will require a signature release.

 

Layaway:

Luxe Closet offers Layaway plan that allows for financial flexibility, additional accommodations are subject to late fees.

In-house Layaway with 0% interest:

  • Layaway options available for all items over $1,000 before tax.
  • An initial 30% deposit is required. Payment is to be made fully in 2 months for items under $10,000. For Items over $10,000 payments are to be made fully in 3 months.
  • Once the balance and applicable shipping fees are paid in full, the item will be ready for delivery.

Layaway terms:

  • It is the responsibility of the buyer to make payments on time or notify Luxe Closet of any delays or payments made.
  • If the buyer is unable to complete the Layaway Plan, a short extension of up to one month can be granted with a weekly late fee of $100.
  • All payments made will be forfeited if the buyer does not make reasonable efforts to fulfil their Payment Plan obligations.

Refund Policy

All items are considered final sale, meaning Luxe Closet does not offer refunds, transfers,  credits, or exchanges for any payments made. It is important to understand that the items we sell are pre-owned and may have been previously used or unused. While we carefully inspect, authenticate, and photograph each item, it should be noted that unless explicitly stated, these items may not be in flawless condition.

We want to emphasise that we will not address complaints regarding minor imperfections. Whether a product is new or used, obtained directly from a boutique or through resale, it is unlikely to be perfect when scrutinised at the minutest level.

Individual sensitivity to smells can vary greatly. While Luxe Closet will disclose any unpleasant odors we notice, it is important to recognize that the perception of smell differs from person to person.

Luxe Closet does not make any alterations to the photos or videos that would misrepresent the product. Please be aware that colors and textures may appear differently under various lighting conditions, including on computer or phone screens.

In the event that you encounter any issues with your purchase or notice damage to the package during transit, we kindly request that you inspect your order upon receival and promptly contact us to report the problem or if you receive an incorrect item. This allows us to assess and resolve the issue accordingly. We allow damage claims for up to 2 weeks after the date of confirmed delivery.

Luxe Closet guarantees the authenticity of all items we sell, and if an item is found to be inauthentic, we will provide a refund. However, due to the increasing prevalence of scams and fraud, we have implemented additional measures to prevent false claims. Our money-back guarantee is valid for up to 3 months from the date of receival of the item. We strongly recommend that you exercise due diligence by having your items authenticated immediately upon receipt.

In the rare instance where a buyer disputes the authenticity determination made by our authentication methods, we will honor our money-back guarantee within 3 months of the sale, provided that the "not authentic" or "counterfeit" opinion is verified by one of our preferred third-party authentication companies listed on our website. Please refer to our list and consult our Purchasing Policy page for more detailed information.

Shipping Policy

Luxe Closet offers shipping within Canada and Worldwide.

Shipping is available within Canada at a flat rate of $50 with standard insurance. If a buyer wants to insure their item up to $5,000 value it will come at an additional rate to the buyer.

Luxe Closet is not responsible for any additional custom fees, duties and taxes that are required upon entry into your country/territory. We will not offer any refunds or exchanges if the item is not picked up due to non-payment of these fees.

Seized items and delays related to custom clearance are out of our control.

Luxe Closet also allows local pick up within some parts of the Greater Toronto Area for items under $5,000. Prior to pick up, item(s) must be paid in full via e-transfer to luxeclosetca@gmail.com. Pick up will require a proof of receipt with a matching photo identification. Please email luxeclosetca@gmail.com to see if your area qualifies for local pick up.
